LENT 2026
Walking with Christ Toward the Cross
Lent is the Church’s forty-day journey of repentance, prayer, and renewal as we follow Jesus toward the cross and toward the joy of Easter morning. We use this time to tell the truth about our lives, to lay down what distracts or hardens us, and to return to God’s mercy with open hands. Journeying in Lent together is a spiritual practice.

What is Holden Evening Prayer, and why is it so fitting for Lent?
This year we will use the Holden Evening Prayer as our midweek service a beautiful, sung vespers liturgy that helps us slow down, breathe, and listen. Holden Evening Prayer was written by composer Marty Haugen during a residency at Holden Village, a Lutheran retreat center, in the winter of 1985–1986. It is Simple and meditative: repeated sung responses allow prayer to sink from the head into the heart. Evening light in a dim season: Lent has honest shadows. Holden’s tone is calm, steady, and hopeful.
