Amy Southerland

Amy is excited to be joining the music team at St. Mark. Growing up in the South (Alabama) and then moving to New Jersey for 25 years as a middle school music teacher at an independent school and a church musician, she now finds herself back in the South. Amy is so happy that both her and her husband, David (the new Performing Arts Department Chair at St. Anne’s-Belfield) relocated to Charlottesville this year. She became the new music teacher at Johnson Elementary in February where she teaches Pre-K through 4th graders.

Amy Southerland grown up in the church working in several denominations including Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Reformed, and United Church of Christ. She attended Birmingham-Southern College where she was not only an organ major but a leader in the choral program. Amy and her husband, David live on the campus of STAB so the commute is ideal! In their spare time, they spend time on their property in Fort Valley, a couple of hours from here tucked away in the Shenandoah Valley. They also love to go see live music!
