“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” —Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Our Mission: To walk lovingly with children and their families, learning and growing in Christ.

What We Believe: We support parents, who are the best ministers of children! We proclaim that children are loved unconditionally by God and are welcomed at the Lord’s Table. We believe that children are full members of the body of Christ. We are committed to fulfilling our baptismal promises. We keep children safe—spiritually, physically, and emotionally. We are Christ-centered.

The youth at St. Mark are an important component of who we are as a church. In turn, we as a church play a crucial role in the faith formation of our youth. To this end, our Junior High Youth Group (grades 6-8) and Senior High Youth Group (grades 9-12) meet for fellowship, faith-forming and faith-building discussion, outings and adventures, service projects, VA Synod-sponsored events, youth-led worship services, and more.

Additionally, we offer family events about every two months, such as Christmas caroling, egg coloring, picnics, and game nights. St. Mark is fortunate to have a large and growing population of young families and youth; we are very committed to helping and encouraging these young people to develop deep and lasting roots in faith.
